How to use the time card calculator
- Enter the clock-in and clock-out time for each day you worked. Leave days off blank.
- Add any unpaid break in minutes (for example 30 for a half-hour lunch).
- Optionally enter your hourly rate to see gross pay, including overtime.
Hours are shown both as hours:minutes (7:30) and as decimal hours (7.50), since many payroll systems want decimals. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in (say 22:00 to 06:00), the shift is treated as crossing midnight.
Overtime
By default, hours above 40 in the week are counted as overtime at 1.5× your rate. That's the common US rule for non-exempt employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Some states and countries use daily overtime or different multipliers, so change the threshold and multiplier to match your situation.
Results are estimates for planning and checking timesheets. Your employer's payroll rules and local law always take priority.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60. 7 hours 45 minutes = 7 + 45/60 = 7.75 hours. The calculator shows both formats for every day.
Does it handle night shifts?
Yes. If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, the shift is treated as running past midnight.
How is overtime calculated?
Hours above the weekly threshold (40 by default) are paid at the multiplier (1.5× by default). Change both to match your rules.
Is my timesheet saved?
Only in your own browser (local storage), so it's still there if you come back. Nothing is uploaded. Press Clear to erase it.
Can I use it for several people?
It handles one person's week at a time. For a team, a spreadsheet with a time log per person works better.
